In an exclusive interview given to senior journalist Hemang Palan, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat HARSH SANGHAVI stated that the Gujarat government intends to actively attract asset-light industries in the state.
“The Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy provides highly competitive Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX) support to attract asset-light tech firms. We view IT and AI not as separate sectors, but as force multipliers for our existing industries. We are actively encouraging the integration of AI-driven supply chain management, algorithmic trading, and advanced cyber-security within the industrial sectors of the state. To support this ecosystem, regional academic institutions are scaling up integrated IT, AI, and management programs, ensuring that Gujarat has a steady, localized pipeline of high-tech talent ready to serve global tech enterprises,” said Harsh Sanghavi.
The Gujarat government recently launched the ‘Viksit Gujarat Data Centre Policy 2026-29’ - an initiative primarily aimed at establishing Gujarat state as India’s premier destination for world-class data centre infrastructure, digital innovation, cloud ecosystem development and sustainable technology investments.
