ALL INDIA SEAFARERS UNION General Secretary, Mr Amar Singh Thakur and the union's Working President Mr Abhijit Sangale recently met Director General of Shipping, Mr Shyam Jagannathan (IAS) in Mumbai.

In the meeting, they discussed the problems currently faced by Indian seafarers. The topics of discussion included :

1. MT Aashi crew repatriation from Indonesia.

2. Denial of shore leave to Indian seafarers at Indian ports. 

3. Medical assistance for stranded seafarers.

4. Changes and modifications required in DG Shipping website.

5. Problems occurred in the Self Emigration System.

6. Seatime problems - Non cooperation with the seafarers from many shipmanagement companies on E-Governance services.

7. Non compliance of MLC 2006. 

8. Non payment of wages by RPSL.

9. Issues faced during 'Exit Exams'.
